জুলাইয়ের পর থেকে চট্টগ্রাম নগরে ডেঙ্গু ও চিকুনগুনিয়া আক্রান্ত রোগীর সংখ্যা বাড়ছে। জেলা সিভিল সার্জন কার্যালয়ের তথ্য অনুযায়ী, চলতি বছরে এখন পর্যন্ত ১ হাজার ৯০৪ জন ডেঙ্গুতে আক্রান্ত হয়েছেন। প্রথম ছয় মাসে যেখানে আক্রান্ত হয়েছিলেন ৪৪৫ জন, সেখানে ১ জুলাই থেকে গতকাল শুক্রবার পর্যন্ত আক্রান্ত হয়েছেন ১ হাজার ৪৫৯। মারা যাওয়া ১৭ জনের মধ্যে ১৫ জনই মারা গেছেন এই সময়ে।
